Oskaloosa Community Schools’ Work-Based Learning Coordinator Kristen Bandy was featured in an article published by the Iowa Department of Education on February 27.
The article, “Shaping students’ futures through shoes,” highlights Bandy’s coincidental meeting with Brian Myers, manager/partner of Brown's Shoe Fit Company in Oskaloosa, over 12 years ago.
Their meeting has sparked nearly a decade of partnership between the two, with Myers eventually becoming one of Bandy’s most impactful business collaborators for work-based learning opportunities. Through this collaboration, Myers and Bandy provide valuable internships and learning experiences for Osky students as they learn about future career paths.
Myers regularly helps teach students about business careers in management, entrepreneurship, accounting, sales and marketing, and more.
We appreciate community partners such as Brown’s Shoe Fit Company for helping prepare our students for career and college success!
