Students in grades K to 8 will begin taking FAST Bridge screening tests in reading and math beginning Tuesday, January 19th in order to determine mid-year progress. The information from these screening assessments help teachers know what kind of teaching each student needs to help them grow, both individually and as part of the whole class. This information is used to determine if each student is On Track (meets or exceeds grade level expectations), has Some Risk (may need additional help in order to improve identified skills and has some risk of falling behind), or is High Risk (needs additional help in order to improve identified skills and has high risk of falling behind).
Since this information is very important for teachers to meet the true needs of students, it is critical for students to be ready to do their best on these tests. Families can help this process by helping students be well rested, in class, and ready to show what they know. If you have questions about FAST screening contact the classroom teacher or building principal.
