Oskaloosa High School offers students excellent opportunities to develop their abilities through challenging academic programs as well as through athletic and extracurricular activities.

Oskaloosa High School serves approximately 640 students and has 202 course offerings, including over 52 courses students may take and gain concurrent college credit.  Our students have access to both Indian Hills Community College and William Penn University courses.  We also offer Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) classes such as Project Lead the Way (PLTW), and Academy classes in Health Science, Construction Trades, and Welding along with apprenticeships in HVAC, Electrical, Construction, and Welding.  Our school has recently received a grant through Future Ready Iowa and Workforce Development to supply transportation to students wanting to take Discovery Academy courses on the Indian Hills Campus.  It is a great way for students to gain college credit at little or no cost.

OHS is a 1:1 school, so each student is able to have a laptop computer to use during the school year.  Students access information to think critically, create, and collaborate while obtaining 21st Century skills.  Our teachers integrate Project Based Learning with collaboration coming from Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s).  100% of our students at the high school have opportunities to do service learning activities and/or work based learning throughout their years in high school, which in turn helps students understand the types of vocations and careers they can have.

We encourage our students to get involved with extracurricular activities.  Oskaloosa High School has an award winning marching band, jazz band, and we are one of the only schools of its size in the state to have an orchestra.  Our choral membership is also outstanding with students participating in many different performances.  In athletics, we offer a host of sports with many teams and individuals finishing their seasons in state competition.  We are the first high school in the state to have a Pheasants Forever club and has received national attention for some of its achievements. We have students in Speech and Debate competing at the state level.  Our Shooting Team has gone to Nationals multiple times and has placed in the top 5.

Our Student Council is one of only six in the state to have been recognized as a National Student Council for the past five years.  And for the past thirteen years, they’ve been recognized by the state for the work they have done at the state level, community level, as well as the school.  Our robotics teams have placed high in state competitions and are working toward placement at the nationals in the near future.

Oskaloosa High School enjoys the support of a wide variety of community groups and businesses. Our community is very proud of our students. Parent support groups such as the Band Boosters and the Athletic Boosters help to make our school the dynamic, student-centered institution it is. Again, we welcome you to our school and we hope that you enjoy your time with us.
